There are many Christian sex toy shops that sell everything you’d basically ever need to have a great time in bed.  This topic has been covered on a few sites but I wanted to dig deeper to provide some more clarity on why you should use sex toys and the benefits it can have on your relationship. Louis and Melissa McBurney have a great article they wrote five years ago at Christianity Today about what’s right and what’s wrong.  One thing they said that I actually disagree with though, is the implication that not much has changed since acient times.  We are a totally different culture now and if we weren’t, there wouldn’t be the talk of gay marriages and gay marriages being legal or illegal.  We are a totally different culture because of the ways entertainment and technology have changed our daily lives.

Why is there talk about Christian sex toys? Because believe it or not, there are many Christians who want to be happy and not live in a “rule-defined” religion. In many ways we are viewing Christianity different, trying to re-interpret where it fits into the world we now live in; and by extension we are able to see things a lot more clearly than we would have 14 years ago.  A vibrator or a sex toy is permissible in the confines of a Christian Marriage and there is no evidence or reason why it wouldn’t be.  In many ways the discussion of vibrators and sex toys is no different than the discussion of rear-entry sex  – it’s the shame of exploring the full pleasures of sex that keeps us fearful of trying new things.

There are all kinds of sex toys in all kinds of shapes and colors, big and small, wide and slim.  But Christians almost always get hung up in two places.

1. Using a sex toy for vaginal stimulation
2. Using a sex toy for penis stimulation

One other big issue rarely mentioned is jealousy.  It’s not uncommon for a spouse to feel a bit of jealousy:that there is a need for a sex toy or that he is being replaced by a sex toy because they aren’t doing their job to 100% satisfaction.  So the toy-desiring spouse might be reluctant to say they’d like to include a sex-toy in bedroom activities because they don’t want to insult their spouse.  This situation calls for a spousal communication check up.  If there are any feelings of jealousy or unsatisfaction, they are best dealt with outside of the bedroom when the act of sex is not the main event.  Every relationship is different but generally the role of the sex toy is to heighten an already wonderful experience.
